1946 – The Beginning of Transportes Rama
We were born in 1946, driven by the will of two brothers—Manuel and Carlos Rama—in an aging and outdated Portugal, where there was plenty of room for growth but also a great deal of work to be done.

We were born in 1946, driven by the will of two brothers—Manuel and Carlos Rama—in an aging and outdated Portugal, where there was plenty of room for growth but also a great deal of work to be done.
We became the first transporter for Shell in Portugal. Venturing into the unknown, we expanded our business once again.
Triunfo, Agloma, and Rações Izidoro were the three main clients that helped us establish ourselves in the Portuguese market. The 1960s were also the decade in which the company—born from the dream of two brothers—gained a new dimension, growing to 150 employees and 60 transport units.
We became the 7th Portuguese company to obtain authorization for international transport. Once again, we ventured into the unknown and expanded our business.
Our role in international freight transport was solidified with the international transport of pulp. In the 1980s, a new management model took its first steps toward creating a system of certifications and quality standards, which would become the foundation for the demanding transportation services we provide today.
Driven by customer satisfaction and the constant challenge of pushing our limits, we created a quality system based on the necessary requirements for demanding transport. This system was only fully implemented in 2021 for the following types of transport: Dangerous Goods (ADR), Bulk, Pharmaceuticals (GDP), and Valuable Goods (TAPA).
The late 1990s brought us the third generation of managers, and our expansion continued. At this time, we focused on the International Bulk Transport of Pine Bark. To achieve this, we developed our own semi-trailer designed to properly supply and transport this type of cargo safely and efficiently over long distances.
Our experience allows us to understand market needs and develop a value-driven strategy for our clients. The Temperature-Controlled Transport of Medicines emerged due to the need for fast and secure transportation of pharmaceutical products in the pre-pandemic context.
With 1,000 square meters of storage space and improved working conditions for our administrative and traffic department employees, we designed a space focused on efficiency and service enhancement. Additionally, we addressed one of our clients’ main needs: dedicated storage space for goods.
We established specific procedures and standards for GDP and TAPA Certification, enabling us to obtain these certifications and take a step forward in the transportation of high-standard goods.
